Pasquino Square

November 15, 2018 by eliemme

G-ROUGH, PASQUINO SQUARE, PARIONE DISTRICT

G-roughs doors open up to the famous sculpture of Pasquino, the most famous “talking” statue of Rome. Placed in a corner of Palazzo Braschi, on which it is a centuries-old tradition to affix the so-called “pasquinate” satire in verse anonymously directed to the most important and powerful figures of the city and the country.

Characteristic feature of the neighborhood like the Parione, which encloses its pulsating heart, Piazza Navona, and Campo dei Fiori, Corso Rinascimento and Via del Pellegrino, find themselves in the maze of streets that wind around Via del Governo Vecchio. You can find small shops, antique dealers, galleries, restaurants, cafés and meeting points for the young artists and creatives of the capital.

For the redevelopment of the square, G-rough in partnership with Society, the Limonta brand of Italian quality linens, have realized a project – “Park-Scenic”: a way to reconquer a degraded public space and to give a new voice to Pasquino as well as a new expression to the pasquinades through the organization of cultural and artistic events.

Art Collection

November 14, 2018 by eliemme

Gabriele & Guendalina Salini, the first collector and patron of art projects, the second artist and curator, wanted G-rough to be perceived as a widespread art gallery.

As home of Gabriele before the transformation, on the 5th floor of the building, the house was a gathering place and meeting point for friends, poets, musicians, and artists – it’s with this energy that passed through the hallways that G-rough represents its art collection.

Before its opening, in April 2014, G-rough became the protagonist of a 24-hour performance, conceived and organized by Guendalina Salini and Silvia Litardi, entitled “Art is Real – an impermanent collection” involving over 25 Romans and international artists with the aim of animating the entire building with art, sounds, performances, installations and wall drawings.

Some traces of the art that marked this passage have remained in the building: the drawings of the characters on the stairs, the wall drawing that crosses two landings, the scribbled writings on the wall, the drawings on the coffered ceiling of the second floor.

All called to interpret the concept of “rough” in a personal and original way – producing works that can be integrated with the architecture of the places, dialoguing with the restoration of the rooms and the peeling walls and interpreting the creation of the new destination, with a sense of wonder.

Sito Room

On the ground floor there is the “Sito” Room, named after an engraving at the entrance by artist, Gianni Piacentini. A private living room with an open kitchen where you can feel at home, have breakfast or enjoy a moment of relaxation, reading a book in front of a cup of tea or sipping a glass of wine.

Gallery bar

November 14, 2018 by eliemme

Located on the ground floor of the building the “Gallery Bar” is open to the public every day from 7am to 12am.

A place of aggregation for artists, designers, gallery owners and international and local creatives. The Gallery Bar is a space where you can enjoy a selection of local wines, signature cocktails and aperitivo in an informal yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Evenings dedicated to art and music make it a gathering spot for both Romans and the international public. A community that can be accessed by becoming a member. For info: info@g-rough.com
